Perseus - Homage to benvenuto Cellini

Perseus the implacable, the Bronze! It is impossible to imagine this personage any other way. The story from Greek mythology dictates that it must be so, as everything was made of bronze: The inaccessible room in which Danae was closed, only to be seduced by a Zeus transformed into a shower of gold, and thus to give birth to Perseus; the hands and the serpent-entangled hair of Medusa. The Gorgon's severed head with is petrifying powers, slung on Athena's shield. Dali's helmeted Victory showing Perseus holding high the head of Medusa ,the Gorgon whom he has just slain, is directly inspired by his admiration for the masterpiece created by Benvenuto Cellini, which he saw during his many trips to Florence.
