Nude ascending a staircase - Homage to Marcel Duchamp

Nothing pleased Salvador Dali more than paying homage to his friend Marcel Duchamp via this sculpture, and creating the realistic figure of a nude woman clambering up the spirals in a shell. This bronze is Dali's ironic opposite to the famous divisionist painting "Nude descending a staircase" produced in 1911 by the leader of the Dada movement and father of Surrealism. The feminine figure which Dali modelled is reminiscent in form of Gala.
