Carmen - Castanets

The sculpture "Carmen -Castanets" is an image of Mediterranean antiquity.

Carmen is shown as a beautiful Minoan dancing at Knossos to the sound of the shells which she holds in her fingers, the forerunners castanets. 

This Carmen represents that wonderful concentration of all types of Mediterranean dance, which was later to become a symbol of Spain in the form of the Flamenco.
